The Field
Otto, Age 11
I went out and sketched the field at the back of my village in Kent and wanted to abstract the colours and shapes, inspired by Richard Diebenkorn, into a finished painting. The longer I observed, the more vivid the colours my eyes allowed me to perceive, until the experience was a pulsating vision. I could make out the geometry and colours under the surface of the soil, as if they were electrified. The finished painting has a ground of brown but is over-painted with vivid colours and texture.
